Touching Earth

As the poet Ocean Vuong states “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous”.  This series, “Touching Earth” explores the holistic and harmonious relationship between human beings and the natural world.  In a time when technology threatens to devour our connection to Mother Earth,  this series is a conversation, a dance, if you will, that realigns our entwined interconnectedness. 

The photographs alone create a dreamy, soft symbioses between (wo)man and nature. The addition of wax and oil paint when I apply encaustic adds another tactile layer that further fuses this intertwining relationship.

For me this work unearths a deeply rooted knowing, one where our authentic uninhibited selves exist freely in nature.
